Design

Acer. Aspire E5-571P-55TL is a premium-looking device despite the plastic body. The plastic body is finely made, and Acer has ensured that the laptop lasts you a long time. No doubt, the plastic is not durable but maintains the cost. In addition, the plastic helps to reduce the weight of the machine. The matte black color and thin bezel with rounded edges give a smooth finish to the machine. However, it’s certainly not a portable device with the size of 15 x 10.1 x 1.2 inches (width x length x height) and 6.00 lbs. Acer - Aspire E5-571P-55TL

Ports

The distribution of the ports is intriguing. The right side has only one port, the Ethernet port! The port comes in handy in case you do not have a wireless connection. You can easily link your laptop to a network to continue your work. Moreover, you can also connect your device using an Ethernet port to other laptops to form a network whenever you need it.

The left side has all the ports for you. The first one is the audio jack to listen to the best quality music without anyone else listening. Next are the two USB 2.0 ports and a 3.0 port to transfer your data. Furthermore the left side also has an HDMI port to increase your productivity by connecting you two screens. You can also enjoy your favorite season on a bigger and better screen by connecting it to your laptop through HDMI wire.

Lastly, the front also got a port, the SD reader, to support your memory card readers.

Keyboard and touchpad

Keyboard is probably the best feature of Aspire E5-571P-55TL. The keyboard is easy to use with evenly spaced and comfortable keys. As a result, you will enjoy typing for more extended periods without feeling fatigued. The keyboard also includes a full numeric pad for you if you need to deal with numbers.

On the other hand, the touchpad has mixed opinions. It’s pretty responsive, but you may also find it, at times, extra sensitive. It is on the left of the center. It is an odd choice to place it as your palm would continually touch it and produce clicks you don’t need. But overall, the two-finger scrolling good response offers a good mouse experience.

Display

Aspire E5-571P-55TL comes with 10 points(Since it’s a touch screen, 10 points indicate that the machine is capable of detecting the pressure of ten fingers separately ) 15.6″ 1366×768-pixel touch screen. The monitor is TN tech, and it goes without saying the picture quality is not so good. With TN monitors, you can see a clear, crisp picture at a right angle to the screen. Once you move, the viewing angles get narrow, and the screen appears dark, and you are unable to see what’s going on the monitor. The screen luminance is only 193 nits, less than average. Nits is the measure of luminance for various sources of light. Good screens start with 250 nits. So with Aspire E5-571P-55TL, you will be unable to use it in sunlight or in dark rooms, limiting your options of places to use the laptop. The brightness, color reproduction, and Gamut all are subpar.

However, the touch screen is nice and quite useful with excellent results.

Webcam

The webcam is the part where Acer has tried its best to cut the cost. It’s far below average. Although it’s a 720p HD camera, the picture is grainy and unclear. It’s a terrible idea to use the laptop for video conferencing. You better spend a little more on an external camera or on a machine with a better webcam.

Speakers

The speakers are bottom-firing, as in most of the Acer laptops. The stereo setup is not the worst but not the best one either. You can feel the cracking sound at a higher volume. Our advice-use headphones to enjoy music or movie sounds for better results.

Storage

HDD/SSD

One of the main reasons for opting to buy this machine is its ample storage. A 500GB HDD (hard drive disk) has enough space to store all your favorite movies, seasons, or your favorite games. Fortunately the HDD can be upgraded all the way up to 20TB.

The HDD is no doubt a much cheaper option but not as fast retrieval times as SSD. Other than that HDD has moving parts and magnetic plates that wear out with time. The new machines prefer SSD due to low weight, absence of moving part, and better performance. With the price of Aspire E5-571P-55TL, it’s clear why this laptop is fitted with an HDD rather than an SSD.

RAM

The RAM is 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, much lesser as found in the laptops found at the same price. Acer has left options in the design, and you can upgrade the RAM up to 16 GB.  4GB’s is enough for light multi-tasking and running light softwares, but if you wish to make this a day to day laptop, that is capable of running multiple softwares then you will have to upgrade your RAM to atleast 8GB’s.

Performance

Aspire E5-571P-55TL has a dual-core 4th Gen Intel Core i5-4210U processor. It’s an average processor suitable for light to medium multi-tasking. As the laptop’s audience is lower-end users, it offers a good performance for everyday tasks like web browsing, daily email check, and average quality binge watch.

Aspire E5-571P-55TL is not a gaming laptop. You can only enjoy light games like Minecraft or ROBLOX. For video and audio editing or heavier programming, this laptop won’t cut it. It is better to look for advanced options for such purposes.

The Aspire E5-571P-55TL has Intel HD Graphics 4400 card. A good choice with the dual-core i5 processor. It does an average to fine job of handling HD videos and lower-end gaming. You can play some intensive games like The Witcher, but you’ll need to tone down the settings. On the other hand, you can easily play games like GTA: Vice City or Far Cry 3 on max settings.

Battery Life

The battery of Aspire E5-571P-55TL is a big plus. A 5000 mAh lithium-ion lasts longer than you can expect. On average, it lasts around 7+ hours. The long time makes it ideal for traveling but the weight of the laptop might dampen your plans.

Conclusion

Aspire E5-571P-55TL is, all in all, an average device for lower-end users. However, the lack of a CD/DVD drive and the less than useful webcam may affect you more than you expect. Acer intended to cut costs or make it lighter, but the optical drive would have been a good addition. Also, a fingerprint sensor is missing, which is quite common nowadays for security purposes.
