We had a hard time picking a clear winner between the LG UltraGear 24GL600F-B and the AOC C24G1. However the 24GL600F-B wins the battle because of superior motion handling as it has minimal ghosting.
There is plenty of gaming goodness packed in this compact monitor,a high refresh rate, rapid response time, a crosshair, adaptive sync (Freesync and Gsync) to fight screen tearing, variety of connectivity options and as already mentioned great motion handling.

Hovering at right around the $150 price point, the AOC C24G1 is one of the fastest monitors in the market.
Display-wise, the AOC C24G1 doesn’t come with an IPS display panel. But, the VA panel is at the very least better than any TN panel when it comes to viewing angles and contrast. Plus, the 1500R curved screen gives it the kind of immersion that you won’t find anywhere else at this price point.
As for gaming, it’s where the AOC C24G1 shines the most.
The specified response time is 1ms, as well as support for up to 144Hz refresh rates, and best of all, it supports AMD FreeSync.
Normally, those round of features wouldn’t be remotely enough to make a gaming monitor worthy of an outright recommendation. For when you’re willing to give up some eye candy for that little bit of extra boost of frame rate, the Sceptre E255B-1658A is well worth considering.
First things first though, this gaming monitor doesn’t cost $150. It’s actually a bit more expensive. But it’s just a little bit more, and if you’re patient enough, you can wait for the gaming monitor to go on sale to technically meet our requirements.
Moving on, the reason why we decided to include the Sceptre E255B-1685A in our round-up is pretty simple — it works.
For hardcore gamers, at least.
While the TN panel won’t produce colors nor viewing angles as good as VA and IPS panels, you do get better response times with minimal ghosting and blur issues. Plus, the Sceptre E255B-1685A was never about making things look prettier. Instead, it’s a gaming monitor designed to help get gamers a bit more for that extra competitive edge, and to that end, it delivers.
The rapid 1ms GtG response time and low input lag is mated with a 165Hz refresh rate, which may not sound like a huge leap over 144Hz, but trust us, for hardcore gamers, every extra frame rate counts.

Next up in the list of gaming monitor under 150 is the Acer KG241QP. A 144Hz TN monitor at this price range can definitely be labeled as a steal.
The 144Hz refresh rate when coupled with AMD Freesync (48-144Hz VRR range), which by the way is compatible with NVIDIA graphics cards as well, the 1ms response time and TN panel’s ability to terminate flicker (along with many others) makes this model near perfect for fast paced competitive gaming.
Moreover to provide an additional edge to its users, Acer has added a couple of nifty features to enhance the gaming experience. The features include custom crosshairs, black boost, VRB (Visual Response Boost), backlight strobing technology (which helps to completely eliminate motion blur which helps to provide a smoother experience) and pre-calibrated picture presets.
Connectivity wise the KG241QP has a single Displayport accompanied by two HDMI ports, all of which support 144Hz@FHD. The lack of USB ports is a bit of a bummer but at this price range it isn’t unheard of.
The part where this monitor disappoints is at the ergonomics front. The stand is only capable of tilting and wall mounting, but given the fact that this is a budget monitor, it is understandable that Acer had to cut some corners.

At less than 150 dollars, it is hard to expect a perfect display. However, for some of us the advantage of an IPS panel can prove to be a decisive factor in making a purchase. The Sceptre E248W-FPT offers an IPS panel at a great price, that delivers bright and rich colors with viewing angles that are wide enough to allow screen sharing with friends. Its 1080p resolution provides enough detail on a 24 inch screen to make images look sharp. For casual gamers the 75Hz refresh rate is a welcome luxury whilst playing single player mission based games. Console gamers on XBOX and PS4 can also benefit from the HDMI connectivity to run games smoothly at 60Hz.
The absence of adaptive sync makes one doubt if this monitor is actually intended for gaming use, however, it is not hard to understand that Sceptre had to cut some corners to make ends meet. Another gripe is the poor ergonomics, although we weren’t expecting much to begin with given its cheap price, the stand does not even allow for height adjustment which is quite disappointing.
Overall this is a great monitor to purchase for mixed use, if you are targeting good image quality and other benefits that an IPS panel offers whilst being aware of the limitations of a budget purchase.
