Difference between laptop and a chromebook

If you’re planning to buy a PC and are confused whether to buy a regular laptop or a chromebook, this article might help you to decide between buying  a regular laptop and a chromebook. Both PCs are smart and portable so you can work anywhere, anytime and carrying them around your office or home won’t be a problem.

But the question ‘what’s the difference’ remains unanswered. Lets take a look at the difference.

Windows and MacOS

Most Laptops use  Windows operating systems whereas Apple’s Macbooks are operated by the MacOS (developed by Apple for their PC’s). In such machines, the user can download, launch and run any intended software. Both Windows and MacOS  have their own Built-in stores to download a large variety of softwares. All the data of a laptop is stored in a built-in Hard disk drive  and the user can also use an external device to store data such as USBs, additional drives, cloud storages etc.

Chromebook

Chromebooks on the other hand, are controlled by Google chrome’s operating system and use Google chrome as it’s main browser. In a chromebook most applications are web-based. You can also download certain desktop applications as well as some android apps (which may not be accessible on Microsoft;s Windows). The internal built-in storage of a chromebook is very limited as it uses cloud storage as it’s main storage (You can upgrade your cloud storage up to 2TB, but that will require a paid subscription). When chromebooks first came out, you couldn’t even save your documents if your internet connection dropped but now thankfully things have gotten better and even apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify have an offline mode.

In Short

To sum it all up both laptops use the same hardware, the only main difference is in their OS and functionality.
