What Is Monitor Vignetting?

Monitor Vignetting takes place when the monitor suffers from bad brightness uniformity. This bad uniformity makes the center of the screen brighter than the edges.

The following picture can help you in understanding this concept.

Can you fix monitor vignetting?

Sadly, on most monitors nowadays, fixing vignetting is impossible.

On the other hand, if you are using a high end professional monitor, there is a chance you might have access to features such as brightness uniformity compensation, which can help with poor uniformity but on most entry-level monitors it isn’t effective because it ends up worsening both the color uniformity and the contrast ratio.

The good news, however, is that on most monitors, this issue is barely noticeable. In most cases, the deviation is so minor that it causes no problems whatsoever.

However, if the deviation is extreme, then it is strongly recommended that you RMA your monitor if possible.
