VA glow text

What is VA Glow?

VA glow can be defined as a pale glow at the bottom of a display. The glow, however, is only visible when there are dark images or videos being shown on the display (and it isn’t as noticeable as the IPS glow). Like in the case of IPS glow, the position and viewing angles determine how visible the glow would be.

For example, if you look at the display from sharper angles, like from the extreme right or left, VA glow will be more noticeable across the screen with a silver purplish glow (this depends entirely on the content on the screen and your viewing distance). This isn’t a cause for concern because you don’t normally use a display at such angles (too below or above the display or from the extreme right or left).

The amount of VA glow differs from model to model and individual displays, but mostly it is entirely negligible and most users don’t even notice it at all (with the exception of users who are using very old VA panel monitors).

All you need to do in order to reduce VA glow is to sit a bit further away from the display, while still being in front of it. VA glow is only noticeable on extreme angles and only with dark backgrounds. For instance if you are watching the display, say from your bed because of the distance between your bed and the screen, the glow wouldn’t be visible, despite the fact that your bed is lower than the display.
