What is Color Uniformity?

Color uniformity as the name suggests means uniform color all over the screen, for example say if you are viewing a color, we can take the color green as an example here, if the shade of green you see in the middle of the screen is the same shade that you see on the corners or any other part of the screen then it can be said that your monitor has great color uniformity.

Color uniformity is an integral part of any monitor as if a  display suffers from poor color uniformity many problems can arise especially for designers, photographers and  editor as it can cause misjudgment of images, bias during editing and reviewing and difficulty in matching images.

Good uniformity, on the other hand, maintains the accuracy of an image, saves time, reduces biased color rendition and enhances a user’s competitiveness by displaying the image in the intended way.

How to test color uniformity?

Some monitors out there have uniformity testing functions in them, out of the box, so if you possess such a monitor then it is a good habit to run them occasionally. However if your monitor has no such features, then one simple test you can perform is by filling your screen with dark plain colors and examining your screen.

If the result of this test is that you find a problem with your device, then it is recommended that you reach out to customer care and if the problem is beyond fixing then you should RMA it and if that’s not possible then replacing your device might be your only option.
