Multiple monitors

Does Having Multiple Monitors Affect Performance?

Given that you have now figured out the fact that your CPU is capable of running multiple monitors at the same time, the question that is now bound to arise is, whether running multiple monitors would affect your computers performance.

In general, if you are using a mid to high range CPU and GPU, then you won’t notice any significant performance related issues, however, if you are running CPU/GPU intensive softwares, then your computer will without doubt slow down (even if you are using only a single monitor).

The problem that would definitely be of significance would be the output of frames also known as the frame rate. For example if you are running a game on three monitors, in order to show something on all three screens, your CPU would have to output three times as many frames (in comparison to if the game was running on only a single monitor). Depending on what setting you are playing the game at, if it’s maxed out, then either the other screen would get a low frame rate or the frame rate would get divided (into two or more depending on how many monitors are running) amongst the monitors.
