DESIGN

The design of HP 15-dy1036nr is simple, yet charming. It is quite thin and has an attractive natural Silver color. The size of laptop is 14.11 x 9.53 x 0.71inches and the weight is 3.75 pounds (1kg and 701 grams) which is fairly portable. The body of laptop is made up of plastic, which is strong enough for the job and weighs less than metallic bodies like Aluminum. On top of the display panel, there is the HP logo, which boosts the attractiveness of the laptop. The mousepad is very smooth and highly responsive, however it does not have buttons so if you want to record a click, you have to press at the bottom right/left corners of mousepad.HP 15-dy1036nr DIMENSIONS

CONNECTIVITY

This model has 1 USB 3.1 Type-C, 2 USB 3.1 Type-A and 1 HDMI port.  The USB-C port helps you to transfer data at a high rate and also helps you in relatively larger charging currents ranging from 3 A to 5 A. The larger charging current have some advantages like high energy density (stores more power) as well as it also support reverse charging. Moreover, it does not have a kensington lock, which is installed to protect the laptop from thieves, so the security of laptop does come into question, as with the absence of a fingerprint sensor, the only line of defense is the face unlock or the password unlock features provided by Windows 10.

SPEAKERS

The HP-15dy1036nr has two top firing speakers. The performance of speakers is admirable and you can enjoy watching movies, netflix without the need to use external speakers.

WEBCAM

If we talk about the webcam present, it is a HP true vision HD webcam (720p) with dual array microphone, so you can make video calls to your friends or attend school/college meetings with a great quality webcam.

DISPLAY

The HP 15-dy1036nr has 15.6 inches FULL HD (1920x1080p) display with Matte screen. Matte screens help in using the laptop in areas of strong direct light because of its glare handling capacity. This model uses TN panel, so the viewing angles are narrow and TN panels have poor color reproduction, so unfortunately the colors of this display are little bit dim and the brightness levels aren’t that great as well, which affects the whole viewing experience. The bezels of this model are not irritating, as they are small micro-edge design bezels. The display lid can be pushed back approximately 180 degrees, so you can tilt the screen however you like while typing or watching something. Sadly this model isn’t touchscreen compatible, which isn’t unusual for laptops at this price range.HP 15-dy1036nr important specs form

KEYBOARD

The keys of this laptop are well spaced and comfortable to use. The keys do produce a click sound when pressed but it doesn’t annoying. The design of the keyboard is great for fast typers and it is easier to clean as well. The keyboard isn’t backlit so you will face some difficulty when using it in the darkness but while having its drawbacks a backlit keyboard does consumes more battery power, which shortens your battery life and negatively affects your battery health. Furthermore, a numeric keypad is also provided, which makes crunching in numbers faster and easier.

STORAGE

HDD/SSD

This model comes with a pre-installed 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, which is upgradeable up to 4TB’s. When compared with a HDD, the SSD is more up to date, faster and better in quality than the HDD or the eMMC. SSD helps you to run smoothly because it is more Energy-Efficient than both HDD and eMMc. The speed of SSD is 2x that of HDD but on the other hand a SSD does cost more and most of the times it is more efficient to use an external HDD instead of a SSD. In addition you can also you a SD card to pump up the storage up to 2TB depending on the type of SD card you use.

RAM

This model has an 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM. Unfortunately the RAM isn’t upgradeable. However, 8GB RAM is enough to run most softwares and light games such as Adobe Photoshop, Roblox etc. 8GB’s is ideal for daily use like watching movies, youtube, casual gaming, text editing softwares etc.

PERFORMANCE

The processor used in the HP 15-dy1036nr is the 10th Generation Intel Core i5,1.0 GHz, Quad-Core processor, which can be boosted upto 3.6GHz. This processor is capable of easily running software like adobe premiere pro(video editor), adobe photoshop and  it can be used to run heavy games as well such as PUBG, Fortnite, GTA V(all at low settings) . The processor delivers excellent performance. Although it isn’t the ideal laptop for gaming as it makes use of the integrated Intel® UHD Graphics, which wasn’t designed for gaming. However it can and will satisfy the hunger for gaming because it offer outstanding performance for light games such as Roblox, Assassins Creed, GTA IV etc. So all in all it’s a great device for day to day tasks such as web browsing, watching Youtube, Netflix, Instagraming etc. Regretfully the processor does get hot so this model has a turbo technology cooling fan, to counter the heating problem but unfortunately the sound of fan is a bit loud so it will be uncomfortable or annoying sometimes.

BATTERY LIFE

This model has a lithium ion battery which can last upto 10 and a half hour. This battery life is appreciable for travelling, office work, running processor intensive softwares (video/photo editors) and for daily tasks like gaming, web browsing, watching Youtube, movies etc. The battery life combined with the weight makes it the ideal device for travelling either great distances or even to your school or work place. Furthermore the laptop takes a mere one and a half hour to fully recharge due to HP’s fast charge technology.

SOFTWARES AND FEATURES

Cloud storage options for HP 15-dy1036nr include 5GB (Microsoft OneDrive) and 15GB (Google drive) free cloud storage. Cloud storage is very useful as it provides you with extra space for your data and helps you to access your data anywhere in any device. This allotted storage can be increased but there is a yearly fee attached with this service. The Microsoft store also helps to download your desire programs(including some android softwares and games) such as  odoo, Quick books ,Whatsapp, Candy Crush etc. You can also download softwares from the internet(although it is not recommended to do unless it is a trusted site)

BUY IT IF

Buy it if you are a student or just someone who needs a laptop for daily chores or light gaming, as this device is designed to provide productivity along with comfort and style. Furthermore if you require a laptop for travelling than the HP 15-dy1036nr is the one for you

DON’T BUY IT IF

Don’t buy it if you are a photo or video editor as the colors aren’t that bright. Moreover this isn’t a gaming laptop so heavy or competitive gaming is off the table.
